Harmony Missionary Baptist Church

Old-Fashioned Worship for a Modern World

Our Pastor

Pastor Bob Myers was born in Jackson, Michigan in 1945.  His parents had moved there to work in wartime production.  He and his family soon moved back to Kentucky where he attended New Concord Grade School and Murray College High School.  He trusted the Lord Jesus Christ as his savior in 1958 and was baptized into the Poplar Spring Baptist Church.  He has four brothers and one sister.  Both his parents are deceased.  He served in the U.S. Navy in Vietnam and later finished his tour in Hawaii.  He returned to western Kentucky in 1966 and attended Murray State University where he earned a Bachelor’s degree, returning in 1987 to earn a Master’s degree.  He and his wife, Diana were married in 1968.  He was called by the Lord to the gospel ministry in 1974 while kneeling in prayer in his back yard.  In following years he did missionary work in western Kentucky, Dover, Tennessee, Cairo Illinois, Cape Girardeau, Missouri, and Washington State.  He pastored Harmony Missionary Baptist Church from 1982-84.  From 1993 through 2018, he was employed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture as a Wildlife Biologist in Wildlife Services, stationed in Louisville, Kentucky and later, in Washington, D.C.  He retired from Wildlife Services in 2018.

While in Washington, D.C. Pastor and Mrs. Myers conducted a number of outreach projects including ministering and witnessing to the elderly, disabled, and underprivileged, and Pastor Myers preached the gospel at churches and to acquaintances.  The Pastor and Diana returned to Benton County, Tennessee to again pastor Harmony Missionary Baptist Church in May, 2006.

Diana (Eldridge) Myers was born in Calloway County, Kentucky where she grew up in a quiet rural atmosphere with four sisters and three brothers.  Both of her parents are deceased.  Diana attended Almo Elementary School and Calloway County High School.  She and Pastor Myers have two adult children and a grand-daughter.

Pastor Myers believes that the Lord has established Harmony Missionary Baptist Church for the express purpose of sharing the joy of the message of Jesus Christ with the Benton County / Camden community and surrounding areas of west Tennessee.  He actively seeks opportunity to tell others about the abounding grace of our Lord and the abundant salvation He offers.  He sincerely believes that people need to know about the truth of Christ that is able to make them free (John 8:32).
